The collection (with the name “PASSAGE”) that Dorhout Mees showed us this sunday was inspired by wood, the most basic material on earth. You can tell watching the annual rings if a tree has had a good or a bad year. A bad year is a delicate moment, a fragile and difficult period. But when the tree grows through this part it gets the right power within it again…
This idea of the wood, is just what Dorhout Mees perfectly translated into her collection. Smooth and shiny fabrics are gracefully combined with rough textures. The clean, straight lines of the pants and tops contrast with the voluminous folds and flowing dresses. In the knitwear we saw this vulnerability and strength woven into each piece. The prints developed in this collection consist of subtle patterns of bursting veins that just beautiful shows the vulnerability and strength of wood.
