There are so many beautiful, special, delicious, adventurous places in the world. But what are the cities, restaurants, museums, coffee bars, shops, etc., etc., where you could bump into a Stijlmeisje? In ‘Hotspots‘ we show you the places we think are worth visiting! This week: KOKO.

Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s red light district, KOKO has a laid back atmosphere. When you walk in, you’ll notice that it doesn’t look like a coffee bar at first. That’s because KOKO offers a personal selection of vintage and new design, art and fashion besides their delicious coffee. It’s one of my favorite hotspots in town, because the atmosphere, the location and the concept are all inspiring.

The Coffee at KOKO is roasted with love and care by the roasters of the Antwerp Caffènation, who are always looking for the best quality specialty coffee of biological harvest. It is only available at a few coffee bars in Amsterdam and they serve it with some delicious slices of banana bread on the side. Fell in love with the coffee? They also sell the beans for home use!

The fashion they sell at KOKO is selected by the two owners Karlijn and Caroline. They choose their designers with a strong vision and opinion about materials and quality, so they can offer a perfect combination of everyday favorites and unique statement pieces. The female collection is all about feminine style and class with an edgy twist, with brands like Libertine-Libertine, Samuji, Sanne Jansen and Poti-Poti. KOKO for him is a small collection of everyday basics from Scandinavian brands, with ‘high quality’ and ‘perfect fitting’ as keywords. They also sell unique accessories, like handmade shoes or beautiful jewelry, to complete your outfit.

Besides all of this, KOKO is also a place to get inspired by young talented artists. Every two months you will find a new expo on the KOKO walls. And for those who don’t live in Amsterdam, KOKO also has a beautiful webshop.
